I can't believe my 1st child is 6! I know I have been posting a lot lately but it just seems like so much is going on. And since I am printing these off as a family scrapbook there is just so much I want to have documented! Ashley had a great birthday! It was her last day of school, we had a picnic at the school with her and her awards ceremony. Then she went with her dad to work for the day! After they got home grandma came over and she opened her presents. We took her out to dinner to her choice, Casa Bonita. She didn't get a cake because we are having a combine party for her and Hailey next week at Monkey Bizness, a very fun place! They will get their cakes at the party! I can't believe how fast Ashley has grown up! She is such a joy to our family! She is so motherly and tries to take care of everyone in the family. She definitely fills the role of the oldest child(girl). She always, always keeps us laughing!
She loves to do art projects and was very happy to get her very own Art set! Happy Birthday my big Girl!

Ridin' to school in Style & After school party
Ashley got to ride to school in STYLE today! Daniel got a new motorcycle and is starting to take it to work and back everyday. It should save us $ in gas, since the price of diesel is so high now, it cost a fortune to fill up his truck these days.
Then after school we went to the park and had a pizza party with some kids in Ashley's class and their moms. The kids in her class all really get along good and Ashley is sure going to miss them in the summer! I know these pictures are pretty boring to everyone but maybe family, but I am making this blog into scrapbook pages. So I wanted to have Ashley's fun day with her class remembered!
The kids sure had fun together! They were all piling on the tire swing. In the 1st row last picture it was so funny, Ryan was trying to push them all. In the 2nd row 1st picture is Ashley and the boy she has a crush on, Blake! It is so funny how they can get crushes that young! Hailey climbed the farthest up the tree! All the kids couldn't believe that Hailey was younger than them and could climb farther!

1st Boat trip of the Summer
So the other day we took the boat out for the 1st time this year. We had to get it ready for the summer! It was a nice warm day, and the Lake wasn't busy at all. We even beached and let the kids swim for a while. The water was really cold, I don't know how they got in! I even got to practice driving the boat for a while. I learned last year when I had to so Daniel could Wake Board. I don't like to drive it when the lake is busy, but it was a perfect day. We had lots of fun!

Butterflies
About a month ago a friend told me about a site you can order a kit where you can get live caterpillars and watch them turn to butterflies. So I ordered us one. It was so cool watching the different stages and the kids loved it! The whole process takes about 3 weeks. The site I ordered from is www.insectlore.com
This is how they send the caterpillars, in the little container with the food stuff on the bottom.
This is when they crawl to the top and form into there chrysalides. After they formed into chrysalides you move them into the butterfly habitat.
Then we watched them change into beautiful Painted Lady Butterflies!
My kids really enjoyed this little project! After they all changed, we went and got fresh flowers and put them in the habitat. Then you make sugar water and put droplets of it on the flowers. The butterflies unfurl their proboscis, drink the sugar water then roll their proboscis back up. It is so cool to see!
I got really into this! I think I was more excited then my kids! It was very fascinating! Their coloring is so pretty in the light! The pictures don't show it very good, but they have orangesh-pink, black, white. And brown on the botton side of the wings.
Fun Painted Lady Butterfly Facts:
*They taste with their feet.
*They have 10,000 eyes.
*Breathes through her abdomen.
*She can lay up to 500 eggs.
*Have life span of 2 to 4 weeks.

Field Day
Ashley had her field day at school yesterday! Daniel went with her, she was very excited to have her daddy at school with her! When they got home Ashley told me "that was the most amazing day of my whole life"! I love it when kids say things like that!
Oh to be a kid again and have no worries!
Ashley and her friends! There are only 6 girls(including Ashley) in her class and the rest are boys!
They did a lot of activities and Ashley won at the ring toss!

Sunday Walk
Every Sunday we take a walk with all Daniel's family or just by ourselves. Yesterday we went to Bear Creak Park. The kids had a blast! I really enjoy this time on Sundays. It is nice to just spend time with the family and not worry about anything else. I love Sunday walks!
We had tons of fun climbing on this old dead tree that fell over!
The kids rolled up their pants and had fun walking in the creek. Ryan's shorts were falling off him so we just took them off!

Day Date
Daniel and I hadn't been on a date without kids for a while so a few days ago we decided we would go during the day. Daniel's sister was kind enough to watch our crazy kids for us. We decided to go somewhere new so we went to the Denver Library downtown and the Art Museum. We had heard that they had one of the very first edition printed, Book of Mormons at the Library down town. Brigham Young had given it to the Governor of Denver, is what we heard, don't know exactly. They keep it in a vault and you have to sign a paper, wear gloves, and go in a special room to look at it. It was really neat to see! It didn't have verses in it.
Then we were off to the Art Museum there was some cool things, but also a lot of boring things that I wouldn't call art. But it was fun to go with just Daniel. We took these pictures outside the buildings they have some weird statues.
See us in there, we got swept up!
